Direct School Admission (DSA-Sec) offers students the opportunity to join Yuhua Secondary School based on their interests, aptitudes and potential—beyond academic achievements. At Yuhua, we welcome students with talents in both the performing arts and sports through our CCAs: Choir, Concert Band, Harmonica Band and Volleyball. As one of only four schools in Singapore to offer the Enhanced Music Programme (EMP), and as a G3 Music Centre for students from other schools, Yuhua provides a distinctive pathway for those passionate about music. Our robust music ecosystem nurtures students with the competencies and dispositions to pursue further studies and even future careers in the arts, should they choose to do so. Complementing this is our LLP, MELODY (Music Empowered Learners, Our Dynamic Yuhuans), which creates authentic and engaging arts experiences that support holistic development, with multiple platforms for students to showcase their talents.

Beyond the performing arts, our Volleyball CCA stands as a strong pillar in our sporting landscape, with teams that have consistently performed well at the National School Games. More importantly, the programme goes beyond competition—providing meaningful opportunities for students to grow in confidence, resilience and teamwork. Through regular overseas exchanges and training trips, our student-athletes also develop key 21st century competencies such as global awareness and cross-cultural understanding. Together, these experiences reflect Yuhua’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are ready to thrive and contribute at the next level.

We invite students who wish to grow their talent and passion in these areas to become a part of our Yuhua family in 2027.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

DSA selection criteria and process by talent area

Visual and Performing Arts	Choir (Girls only)	Applicants should: have a strong passion in choral singing and enjoy performing in front of the audience. have performance experience(s) (e.g: SYF, singing competitions).	Shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo audition/trial and interview.
	Concert Band (Boys & Girls)	Applicants should: have a strong passion in music and be able to play a relevant musical instrument for the Concert Band or Harmonica Band.
	Harmonica Band (Boys & Girls)
Sports	Volleyball (Boys & Girls)	Applicants should: have a strong passion for volleyball and display positive attitude in learning and contributing. preferably have prior participation experience in sports (e.g. NSG or other local volleyball competition).

Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.

You will receive notification from the school by 10 July if your child has been shortlisted to undergo Direct School Admission (DSA) selection. All applicants will receive their application outcomes between 17 and 28 August 2026.

The selection trials/auditions/interviews will be conducted in person on the premises of Yuhua Secondary School.

HOW TO APPLY

Essential Information

If your child is admitted to a secondary school through DSA-Sec, they are not allowed to:

Submit school choices during the Secondary 1 (S1) posting process.
Transfer to another school. They must commit to their chosen school for the duration of the programme.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
